Introduction to „Dinghai Qiao“ project by curator Chen Yun, and walk in the surrounding area.

This project was curated by Chen Yun and still in development. The project won the young curator prize from Shanghai Power Station of Art 2014. Dinghai Qiao as an important industrial area in colonial and socialist Shanghai, is now faced with marginalization and declines in its economic and social status. Although described as a slum area, the neighborhood possesses its own language, discourse, social network and special characters that reflect the qualities of an elder generation of Chinese working class and energies of new migrant workers.

Talk to the Gallerist Lorenz Helbling of ShanghART

ShanghART gallery was initiated in 1996 in Shanghai. It has since grown to become one of China’s most influential art institutions and a vital resource to the development of contemporary art in China with representing over 40 artists.

Visit Chronus Art Center (CAC) and talk to the project manager Ding BO

Established in 2013, Chronus Art Center (CAC) is China’s first nonprofit art organization dedicated to the presentation, research / creation and scholarship of media art. CAC with its exhibitions, residency-oriented fellowships and lectures programs etc., creates a multifaceted and vibrant platform for the discourse, production and dissemination of media art in a global context.

Artist Presentation by Zhang Lehua for Double Fly Art Center

Double Fly Art Center is a 9-member art collective formed in 2008 after all its members graduated from the New Media Department of the China Academy of Arts in Hangzhou. Working across media as diverse as performance, video games, music videos, painting and video art, they remain irreverent and anarchic in their critique of social norms, as well as of the international art market. Their works exhibited international.

Free time to look around at M50

M50 is the name of the complex that has become the Moganshan Road Art District in Shanghai. Formerly a set of dilapidated warehouses, the complex, just south of Shanghai’s Suzhou Creek, has been turned into one of Shanghai’s premier locations for showcasing the city’s contemporary art movement.
